Category: Woodcarvings - Pre War
Description: Woocarving made by the famous I Ktut Rodja from Mas, Bali
Period: 1930-1950
Comment: Rodja was known for his stylistic carvings of women. This carving was made at the height of his artistic career, when tourists started to come to Bali in great numbers. When one examines the details of the left hand, face and hair it becomes clear that Rodja was at the height of his artistic power. Together with Geremboeang, Njana and Gelodog, Rodja belongs to the very best of balinese carvers. His statues are extremely rare. Click for more photos on the photo.
